Abhinand Melukote Sudarshana
My name is Abhi and I am a 4th year biological sciences major. I enjoy playing basketball and I am a huge Lakers fan. I am playing intramural basketball this quarter. I usually go to the ARC to workout a few times a week. I mainly listen to hip hop and I produce beats. I currently do research on the epigenetics of stem cells in the biomedical engineering department. I am planning on either applying to medical school or working in the biotechnology/research industry.
Rebecca Olan Richards
Hello everyone! My name is Rebecca Richards and I am a second-year Biological Sciences major. My MBTI is ISFJ, but I am honestly more of an ambivert at heart! Some of my interests include watching movies, exploring new places to eat/drink boba, being in nature, and exercising!!! I consider myself an enthusiastic and spontaneous person who has difficulty saying no when it comes to new adventures. However, I am also that person who spends hours on end studying with a Rockstar in hand (oof). Though I've only been at UCI for one full year, I have gotten involved in a variety of organizations on campus that have helped me grow both as a student and person. As a mentor for PUBS, I hope to pass down the knowledge and experiences I have gained while also developing personable and meaningful connections with you all!
Ying Chow
Hello there!! My name is Ying, and I am a 4th year Bio Sci major, studying to be a PA. I know that college must be daunting and stressful, especially as a STEM major. I have changed my major twice before I became a bio major, so I definitely understand the pressure placed on us to do well in school. While it has been a difficult journey, I believe that college really changed me for the better and helped me see the world in a new perspective. As a mentor, I hope to be able to help y'all see the better part of college as well! One of the best parts of college are the late night food runs! If you get to know me, you will soon see that I love food and boba. Other than that I enjoy watching K-dramas and American shows, such as How to get away with Murder, Criminal Minds, Supernatural, Modern Family, and a bunch of other shows. I mostly listen to EDM but I also listen to a bit of every genre also. I think that I am a pretty easygoing person, so let's make the most of this year together!!!
Sharon Chen
Hi! My name is Sharon and I'm a fourth-year biological science major from Rowland Heights, CA. I was once a mentee in PUBS and now it is my second time being a mentor for PUBS. I'm so excited to be a mentor this year! One day I plan on becoming a pharmacist. I currently work in retail pharmacy and am involved in research as well. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, hanging out with friends, traveling, and trying new foods. I look forward to helping you succeed and adjust to college life!
Arash Khangholi
What’s cookin’, good lookin’? The name is Arash Khangholi and I am a fourth year Bio Sci Major. My hometown is Rancho Cucamonga, but since you probably don’t know where that is, let’s just call it an hour away from LA. I love basketball, chess, Biology(duh), and kabob. I would love to see someone dress up as Walter White before I graduate. I look forward to mentoring the next generation of aspiring students this year!
Jonathan Chao
Hey! My name is Jonathan Chao and I am currently a fourth year Biological Sciences major. My career aspiration is to become a Physician's Assistant (PA). I enjoy watching videos on YouTube, Netflix, and playing badminton. I hope to learn a lot through being a mentor as I continue to interact with more people in the club!
Amy Du Nguyen
Hi, I'm Amy! I am a fourth year, majoring in Neurobiology with a minor in Psychology. I love learning about the brain as well as mental illness and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Here at UCI, I am a Writer for Morning Sign Out at UCI, a club that aims to improve public health literacy through creating/writing articles on anything from stem cells to the effects of exercise on memory. I am also in an undergraduate neurobiology research lab. I work with other students to study the relationship between THC exposure and memory formation. Outside of school, my hobbies include hiking, working out, as well as trying new foodie places. I also love studying at coffee shops, so hmu if you wanna study together :)
Andrew Issam Haddad
My name is Andrew Haddad. I am a 4th year Human Biology Major. Some of my hobbies include working out at the gym, eating lots of food, traveling, and going to the beach. My favorite show at the moment is the netflix original, The Last Kingdom. I want to be a sports medicine doctor after I finish medical school. Just a few examples of my pre-med experience include being part of two research labs, volunteering at clinics and hospitals, and having already studied for and taken the MCAT.
Sarah Alkhatib
Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Alkhatib and I am a 4th year Public Health Sciences major. I am also pursuing two minors in Medical Humanities and Management. My career goals are oriented towards hospital management/health administration - so reach out to me if you have any questions about that! My interests include watching and playing basketball, trying new foods, hiking, and making new friends!! :)
Emily Coan
Hi, my name is Emily and I am a 3rd year double majoring in biology and dance. I am super excited to be a part of PUBS, and hope I can positively impact our time together at UCI. Other than dancing, I love to listen to music, play the piano, rewatch the same few TV shows, and travel (I was fortunate enough to study physics abroad in Dublin this past summer!) I am currently on the pre-optometry route, work and shadow at an office, and am part of the U See Eyes Pre-Optometry club on campus.
Marie Minh Thu Nguyen
Hi there! My name is Marie and I’m currently a 4th year Human Biology major here at UCI. Since it’s my last year at UCI I’m trying to make the most of it and doing so includes becoming a mentor for PUBS. I hope to become a great mentor that can help guide mentees through college as a science major. I know it can be difficult, but I’m here to lend a helping hand. Now, a few things about me! Hopefully after graduating I’ll be applying for dental school since my career goal for the future is to become a dentist :) Some of my involvements on campus include ASUCI’s Mental Health Commission as the logistics lead, and I’m also a Learning Assistant for Human Biology. Outside of school I love doing outdoorsy stuff like hiking or going to the beach with my dog. During my free time, I like to read and watch a lot of shows specifically crime/mystery and anime :D I hope my words have given you an idea of the kind of person I am, and pictures are worth a thousand words so I hope I look approachable in my picture and not intimidating because I’m a nice person, promise! To all those potential mentees out there, I’m here to help and be that person you can turn to or rely on whenever you are struggling whether it be academics or personal. I won’t let you down :) thank you for reading my blurb, I hope it’s not too long. Looking forward to meeting in person!
